Spotlight On Serene Bell Canyon Renovation
Our client’s Tudor-style home in serene Bell Canyon felt outdated. She wanted to introduce new elements of interest to her renovation while keeping resale value in mind. It was at a Boys & Girls Club luncheon that she met a past JRP client. They suggested she give us a call. For her, reputation was a key factor in choosing a design-build firm. She needed someone she could trust to help design her vision. Together, JRP and Molly solidified a plan for a sweeping home remodel that included a bright palette of neutrals and knocking down walls to create an open-concept first floor.
Now updated and expanded, the home has great circulation space for entertaining. The grand entryway, once partitioned by a wall, now bespeaks the spaciousness of the home. An eye-catching chandelier floats above the spacious entryway. High ceilings and pale neutral colors make the home luminous. Medium oak hardwood floors throughout add a gentle warmth to the crisp palette. Originally U-shaped and closed, the kitchen is now as beautiful as it is functional. A grand island with luxurious Calacatta quartz spilling across the counter and twin candelabra pendants above the kitchen island bring the room to life. Frameless, two-tone cabinets set against ceramic rhomboid tiles convey effortless style. Just off the second-floor master bedroom is an elevated nook with soaring ceilings and a sunlit rotunda glowing in natural light. The redesigned master bath features a free-standing soaking tub offset by a striking statement wall. In the master water closet, marble-inspired tiles on the floor and in the shower create a sense of breezy movement and soften the space. Removing several walls, modern finishes, and the open concept creates a relaxing and timeless vibe. Each part of the house feels light as air. After a breathtaking renovation, this home reflects transitional design at its best.
Corey and Molly, 2017 at JRP Grand Opening
“I interviewed three other contractors for my remodel, and though JRP was not the least expensive, I believe you “get what you pay for”- I did!
I met Justin and Lori at a Boys and Girls Club meeting where we had been invited by mutual friends. My friends had used JRP on FOUR projects and were very pleased so I figured that is as good a recommendation as anyone could want. I liked Justin and Lori right away and both were very easy to talk to.
I had a Tudor house built in 1979 that was showing signs of “wear and tear”. My husband and I were the original owners and it was definitely time for updating this “dark” Tudor. I wasn’t sure what I wanted and was “blown away” by the design the team came up with. To Justin’s credit, he suggested that I just do the downstairs (of my two-story house) first as he knew the project was overwhelming for me. My husband had died two years prior and I was not used to making all these types of decisions alone.
Once things got underway and I saw that I was not “alone” I decided I would do the entire house. Some of the meetings going over plans were exhausting and invigorating at the same time. JRP always had snacks and Hershey’s kisses to keep me going. Justin’s assistant, Corey, was terrific and helped me make decisions and, in her very tactful way, held me to them as every choice I made seemed to be just right in the end. Vinny and Jeff were my project managers and both were fantastic! Both were easily accessible and accommodating. Towards the end, it was just Jeff that took care of the final details and he was so attentive and seemed to go out of his way to make sure I was completely satisfied and happy! They all feel like they are my friends! The workers were so nice, neat, capable, and polite. Diego dropped everything if he saw me and thought I might need to talk. (Is there anything Diego can’t do?)
With JRP it is “one-stop shopping” and that takes a lot of the pain out of a remodel! I love my new, light, bright, state of the art kitchen and would not change anything in my rather contemporary house. Its still got a traditional feel though no longer Tudor. Rather than list it right away I have decided to stay for a while and enjoy it. It was worth the time it took to complete! Thank you JRP!”
